My Valentine’s Day gift haul proves that everybody loves me.
All of my friends and family know Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday. Who wouldn’t want to celebrate chocolate and flowers and love and attention? Those are my four favorite things. I’ve been yapping about Valentine’s Day ever since my parents got me my first little Barbie-themed box of chocolates when I was five years old.
I get it, not everybody likes Valentine’s Day. Their loss. My thought process is, if you tell your loved ones Valentine’s Day is your favorite holiday, then the potential of receiving chocolate and flowers goes up.
Fortunately, this year I was privileged to receive a couple of Valentines. I even made some for my friends and neighbors. Let’s see what I got this year.
Roses, Russell Stover chocolates, and Tate’s Chocolate Chip Cookies delivered from New Hampshire

The highlight of the day was one of my best friends sending me a bouquet of flowers, a box of Russell Stover assorted milk and dark chocolates, and Tate’s chocolate chip cookies.
Promptly at 10:30 a.m. February 14, I received a text from DoorDash updating me of a scheduled delivery for noon, from Becca! What’s the delivery? I don’t know! But that was the fun, though DoorDash does have a cool feature to reveal the surprise ahead of the delivery if you prefer.
Technically, Becca and her husband live in New Hampshire, so you could say she sent her love from the Granite State. I sent pictures and thanked her profusely for her kind act of love.
A cute card in the mail from my Nannie
My 96-year-old Nannie came through with a classic grandmother’s holiday card. Cursive writing included. If this was the only Valentine I received that day, I would’ve still been satisfied.
I called her when I received the card and made extra sure to tell her I love her and thank you.
Large box of chocolates for myself

Ha! Yes! I’m including chocolates I bought for myself. Self-love counts on Valentine’s Day. I went into the drugstore while on a walk with Heinrich the day before Valentine’s and snagged a large Russell Stover’s heart-shaped box of chocolates.
Then, when I was waiting in line for the register, I thought I should probably get some chocolates for someone else, and snagged a small generic box of chocolates for Bean, whom I was seeing for the holiday.
Final thoughts
I understand that Valentine’s Day is a hard holiday for a lot of people to celebrate. Whether they hate the increasing commercial aspect, or one of those people that claims “We should love and buy flowers for our partner everyday,” neither attitude is going to improve their experience of the holiday.
My haul is a result of my embrace of the “Loud Looking” mentality. Most importantly, I spread the love just as much as I receive it. I can say confidently that both these attitudes will improve your Valentine’s Day experience.
